Catholic Bishops Agree To Cut Funding To Obama’s ACORN

Brava, brava, brava to the Catholic bishops. I am impressed by their resolve to de-fund ACORN. My respect and admiration for their decision has no words becaus I honestly don’t know what else to say. I do believe there decision is right and the correct thing to do.

A friend of mine felt like de-funding ACORN was too late. I pointed out to her midterm elections are in two years and we still have three senate races waiting recounts and a runoff. Ieven explained to her all the fraud ACORN has been allowed to commit this year will only embolden them in coming elections. After sometime she did agree with my assessment of the situation.

Although the bishops decided to do this it is but a small victory. ACORN will never be punished for their crimes because of the partisan politics festering in the Department of Justice cubicles, left behind by the Clinton Era. ACORN will also escape justice because the president elect is connected to ACORN and even paid them for services rendered during the primary elections. He owes ACORN and they will get their payback if their association doesn’t payoff.

While the bishops have cut funding to ACORN, President Bush has yet to act on de-funding ACORN by cutting them out of the housing bill. The presidency and the government in whole are cowards. They are afraid they will tarnish The One’s image. It is tine to tarnish his image. The One respects no one but himself.

The truly brave ones are the Catholic Bishops. If you know a bishop, thank him for being courageous. Please thank him for ending funding to the Rotten ACORN organization.

Now that I have offered my opinion perhaps I should share the story from Newsmax:

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development, which supports anti-poverty and social justice programs nationwide, will no longer make grants to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN, said Auxiliary Bishop Robert Morin of New Orleans.

The decision was made following claims that nearly $1 million had been embezzled from ACORN by the brother of its founder.

Morin, who helps oversee the Catholic program, said forensic accountants hired by the church found that “our funds were not involved with those that had been embezzled.”

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development, which has an annual budget of about $10 million, had planned to grant about $1 million to local groups across the country through ACORN this fiscal year, Morin said. None of that money will be distributed.

“There will be no funding relationships with ACORN groups in the future,” Morin said, during the fall meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

I am so glad the church will no longer fund ACORN at all considering its illegal activities including the Rathke embezzlement.
